Solid Waste Generation and Management Practice in Pokhara

This study aimed to identify the current status of solid waste generation and its management in Pokhara. For this purpose, eleven institutions were chosen from all 33 wards Pokhara Metropolitan City for collecting information regarding composition. Further focus group discussions carried out with five private sectors involved system The per capita rate was found vary minimum value 0.016kg a maximum 0.082 kg. along average 0.035 analysis composition showed that landfill matter accounted highest fraction, making up 39.23 % waste, 35.14% reusable/recycle 25.63% organic waste. challenges are increment generations as well respect population growth catchment area, scarcity garbage collection vehicle, very difficult manage dead animals, lack proper medical Industrial hazards health problem staff. results can be used part planning purpose concerned stakeholders
